Apps Have Trust Issues
A cartoon scene showing a digital interface with the phrase “Apps Have Trust Issues,” highlighting humor about apps constantly requesting permissions from users.
Apps don’t have permissions—they have trust issues.
You download one simple app and suddenly it wants access to your contacts, location, microphone, camera, calendar, and possibly your childhood memories. It’s no longer about functionality—it’s about commitment. Every tap feels like entering a long-term relationship with terms you didn’t read and can’t escape.
Modern tech doesn’t just ask for access—it expects loyalty. You’re not using the app, you’re proving yourself to it. Want to check the weather? Share your location. Want to edit a photo? Grant full photo library access. Want to exist peacefully? Denied until further permissions are granted.
Of course, it’s all for your “experience.” That’s what they say right before asking for one more thing you absolutely don’t need to give. But if you hesitate, suddenly features disappear, buttons gray out, and the app gets… distant.
Because in today’s digital world, it’s not about what the app can do for you—it’s about what you’re willing to give it first.
