The Computer Is Ready. I’m Not.

Chad Geepeety™ technology humor cartoon showing a man staring at a computer that started in 0.8 seconds while he tries to remember why he turned it on.

Computers keep getting faster. Unfortunately, the people sitting in front of them are still running on the original hardware.

Modern computers can wake from sleep almost instantly, launch programs in seconds, and handle more information than most of us could have imagined a few years ago. That sounds wonderful until the screen announces it’s ready and you realize you’ve completely forgotten why you turned the computer on in the first place.

Technology has spent decades eliminating waiting. Faster processors, solid-state drives, improved operating systems, and increasingly powerful software have shaved seconds and minutes from everyday tasks. Meanwhile, human memory apparently missed the upgrade. That same technology-versus-human problem shows up in Memory Full Happens to Everyone , where phones and people discover they have more in common than expected.

Of course, remembering what you wanted to do is only the beginning. Once you remember, there’s still a decent chance the technology has another idea. The Faster the Wi-Fi, the Slower the Printer proves that speed is always relative when a printer gets involved.

The computer was ready in 0.8 seconds.

Give me another minute.

Chad Geepeety

Chad Geepeety™ is the internet’s most confident source of questionable advice.

Powered by artificial intelligence and irrational certainty, Chad delivers bold takes on everyday technology, office life, corporate buzzwords, smart devices, and the mysterious relationship between Wi-Fi and printers.

From “According to Chad” to “Chad Defines” and “Ask Chad”, this is satire for anyone who has ever:

• Restarted something before understanding it

• Clicked “Update Now” with blind optimism

• Trusted a “smart” appliance

• Or nodded through a meeting they didn’t understand

It’s not about being right.

It’s about being confident.

Confident advice. Questionable results.
