When Your Phone Knows Where You Parked

According to Chad cartoon about a phone knowing where the car is parked while the phone is locked inside the car.

My phone knows exactly where I parked. Unfortunately, my phone is in the car.

Modern technology has solved one of life’s great problems: forgetting where you parked. Your phone can remember the location, mark it on a map, calculate the distance, and guide you directly back to the car.

There is, however, one minor technical requirement. You need the phone.

That’s where the system begins to show some weakness. The information exists. The technology works perfectly. The solution is sitting somewhere in Section B—or so I think—locked safely inside the problem.

It’s familiar territory in Lost With Full Signal, where having perfect technology doesn’t necessarily mean knowing where you are.

And Phone Dead. Car Unimpressed. demonstrates another flaw in making the phone an essential part of the automobile experience.

We keep giving our phones more responsibility because they’re exceptionally good at remembering things for us. Directions. Appointments. Passwords. Parking spots. Eventually the only thing left for us to remember will be where we put the phone.

Apparently, we’re not ready for that responsibility.
